Cocoa Beach tarpon fishing

Tarpon Jumping

Yes, a day of fishing but for me this was a day of picture taking. As the tarpon were chasing bait and sky rocketing I left the fishing rod behind and immediately rushed for the camera. These fish were doing some pretty exciting things around me and I just wanted to capture them in action. I'm actually very thrilled with my pictures because of all the fishing photographs we have these are the first that I have captured in action. I have had the experience of photographing Savannah surfing but never the right opportunity to get fish in action. Along with the fact that I love tarpon fishing and seeing them jump into the air my heart was pounding faster than I could snap the photo.

Tarpon jumping

Since before we were married my hubby, Capt. Richard, has always owned a nice camera and enjoyed photography. As for me, taking a picture was just a snap here and a snap there until we owned our first digital camera a few years back. Over the course of time, Richard has thought me a good deal about taking pictures. He can make something out of nothing become eye catching. Listening and just picking up the camera is how I've learn best and of course there is still so much more for me to figure out.

I wanted to share these picturse from the summer of 2010 because they are my first real fish action photos and I can't wait to capture many more. You will enjoy reading a little about our day of fishing.....
