When the weekend comes it's time to get out with your spouse and friends to enjoy relaxing and having a little fun together. Ski Island is a great place to throw out the rafts and inner-tubes, hang in the water with a refreshing drink and forget about the work week.
Living in Cocoa Beach there is almost never a day that you can't be out on or in the water. During Spring and Summer you will see hundreds of people along with children and dogs taking advantage of the nice weather. You might find it fun to just relax in the water or on the boat, but you can always hit around the volleyball or the kids like to explore the island for crabs, shells and whatever else they can find to entertain themselves. If you want to bring your own lunch and food that works out great or if you just want a total break there is a water tiki-food bar that docks on the island and provides anything from lunch to ice cream.
Growing up here Ski Island was named by the many locals who use to water ski around it. However, now days you are not allowed to ski around the island for the area has become an idle zone. There is very easy access to the island since it is located on the North side of the Beachline. You can launch your boats at Kelly Park on Merritt Island or if you launch at any of the Port Canaveral Boat Ramps just head out through the locks and you are right at Ski Island.
