Captain Brock unloading his catch after a day of fishing
Amber Jack Fishing off Port Canaveral
With Captain Brock Anderson
"Hellooooooooo Gina!!" I often hear on the radio from the friendly voice of Captain Brock Anderson aboard his sea going vessel the appropriately named the Bottom Dollar. Captain Brock made his living for many years commercial fishing off the coast of Central Florida and is one of the best and most knowledgeable charter Captains out of Port Canaveral. Brock can spout off bottom numbers and waypoints with the best of them and consistently produces great catches, backing up his fishing skills with results. You can find Captain Brock on Bottom Dollar Fishing Charters website and see some photos of his boat and the Captain himself.
If Captain Brock had a chin full of whiskers you'd mistake him for Santa with his white hair and jolly ole smile and friendly demeanor. He often wears his spectacles on the end of his nose and is known for his wisdom at the dock as he shares his knowledge freely with angling friends. Brock's been around Port Canaveral since the early 70's when I learn a little more about this man's past adventures I'll share them with you. Until then... they'll remain our mystery.
On any summer afternoon at the end of a fishing day you'll find Brock cleaning fish while downing a few beers. It usually takes a few beers to get an "attitude check" before he heads to the house explains Brock as he finishes his day and heads. Our daughter Savannah is his disignated boat washer each day and earns her keep by doing a great job from the poop deck to the hull. (I have no idea what a poop deck is). |
