Savannah having fun in Cocoa Beach with her friends
Two girls laughing and giggling while running to the car was the first thing I heard on Friday afternoon. Savannah and her friend Maddie started their weekend by attending the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) barbeque at school. All kinds of activities going on from volleyball and water slides to being slimed with lard. The coolest thing to them was playing football with an octopus. It sure didn't take them long to conjure up an idea that dad could bring them home a fish to play with for the next football game.
That evening the girls watched a few movies and next morning woke up to make one of our traditional camping breakfast (SOS "Save our Souls", white gravy with/ chipped beef served over toast.) which has now become Savannah's favorite to make for her friends when they are over. This meal will put you under for the day, but it sure taste great and everyone always seems to enjoy it. After breakfast we all headed to the beach meeting up with some other friends. It was a beautiful day where Savannah and Maddie relaxed in the water giving those long boards a try while starting on their tans for the summer.
Maddie has been a sweet friend to Savannah and she comes from a very nice family with a mom and dad that love the Lord and have great values in raising their children. Maddie is a fun girl who keeps herself active and will try any sport. However, Maddie's true passion and love is basketball. She plays on several different leagues and is very good. Savannah attended one of her basketball games where she is on a team of all boys, she is the only girl, she is so good that she actually plays the entire game with not much time sitting on then bench. Maddie is serious and knows that playing on a team with guys will only push her and make her better.
Being a young teenager and spending good wholesome time together with friends is truly what life's about at that age. Keeping active in a sport and the things you have a passion for is what helps these kids stay focused and enjoy their teenage years while hopefully keeping their parents sane.
