Canoe and Kayak Trips
Near and Around Cocoa Beach

Taking a day during the summer to play in the water and canoe down a freshwater spring north of Orlando is always welcome and fun for the kids. For a few dollars and a little determination you can canoe down Juniper Springs, the Econlochatchee, Glen Springs, Alexander Springs or just simply canoe in the lagoons including our very own Thousand Island area in Cocoa Beach.

Canoing is fun for all ages and teaches cooperation and teamwork between the people paddling while the others have to watch and make fun of all the paddling mistakes while watching wildlife and soaking up the Florida sunshine. Ocala has several springs and so does the Orlando and Daytona areas of Florida. There's miles and miles of kayaking and canoeing fun within a car ride away and you can make a day of paddling and/or swimming with no problem.

Anglers from the avid flyfisherman to the cane pole angler can enjoy a day of lolly-gagging around with a straw hat or waving a popper in the air for that panfish or ever ready bass.

The Great Outdoors and Wildlife in Florida

The day that you're looking at we saw turtles, loads of fish including bass, bream, shellcracker and mullet. A playful otter that guided us for about a mile, a red tailed hawk and big fat pregnant deer, alligators, birds from herons, egrets and cardinals to ducks and more varieties of spiders and insects than I care to mention. We even saw a snake!

A turtle resting on a log

Turtles and tortoises are abundant in Florida. This fellow above watched us glide by in our canoe and posed for a photograph. Florida's wildlife really takes it easy when your gliding silently down the waterways with a stealthy approach. Keep everything quiet when your paddling and you'll see a whole lot more.

Canoe or Kayak
Cocoa Beach, Florida

When you're visiting our area, look up some fun on the water and bring a canoe or a kayak for a spectacular day of paddling down a lazy river or poling across a saltwater flat. I'm no girl scout, but this canoeing is fun!
