Sebastian Inlet Hurricane Surfing with Savannah Bradley
Hurricane Irene stayed a little bit too far off the beach
to push in any waves bigger than four foot, but that was alright
with Savannah. She broke out her board and ran to the beach
with her friends to first peak Sebastian Inlet!
Savannah is a natural at surfing and can be found almost
any afternoon doing something on the beach. After school she
checks out the swell at the Cocoa Beach pier and makes a snap
decision on whether to grab her board and go out for an evening
session or put in a couple of hours doing homework or practicing
piano.
Of course during the summer, it's all about surfing and chasing
the waves with mom (that's me) up and down the eastern Florida
coastline in search of the best wave. Typically Savannah likes
to surf New Symrna Inlet, Sebastian Inlet, Patrick Airforce
Base (2nd light) or just a mellow Cocoa Beach street break.
Savannah's dad meets us at Sebastian often when he's done
with his fishing charter and joins her in the water for a
couple of hours of surfing and water fun. He's quite the waterman
and loves to spend time with us on the beach when he's done
with his work.
We all spent the whole weekend of August 14, 2005 surfing
the ESA contest at Cresent Beach and chasing hurricane swell
at Sebastian Inlet and Spanish house. Savannah had a blast
and we just tried to keep up with her.
Sebastian Inlet Fishing Trips
Fishing for snook and other inshore fish at Sebastian Inlet State Park is a
blast. When the weather is good and there's not a hurricane
brewing, take a fishing trip with lagooner
fishing guides at Sebastian State Park. |
